that's d.amn right. and speaking of respecting a lifter: for those who don't know because matt is too stoic to b.itch about it, he worked all night before the meet, then came to detroit and stayed up over 30 hours straight, just to help out on one of his few days off. that's a hell of a guy.

Yes He did! and he kept falling asleep at dinner later that night. Matt K is the Man, lolol, He only went so he could give Kdog advice on his attempts. I heard him say" Take 771, I think you can maybe squeeze it out but 788 is way to heavy for your carrots", What does carrots mean? lolol , Remember Arnold giving Franco advise in pumping iron? He's just a child, and I'm his father? lolol, Thanks to all that helped at the Meet. It was fun and great to see every one. Good job JJ, Thanks again, Ken Richardson

Shane Schafer is a pretty stoic guy himself...he lifted in the iron man where he finished first at about 11am, afterwards Shane hung around for another 12 + hours to help his teammates. I just wanted to say thanks to Shane for helping me, it was my first meet and I learned a lot from all of the verteran guys that were kind enough to take a punk kid like myself all the way down to Detroit and let me hang out with and learn from some of the best in the business. I'd especially like to thank Matt Kroc for all of his helpful advice and insight, learning from him is like having Michael Jordan as a basketball coach; Ken Richardson for putting up with me all day and also offering helpful advice and insight, Mike Brimmall an abosolute monster for only being 20 years old, this kid is going to be something special one day, no doubt in my mind, and finally an extra thank you to Kurt Kroc for being kind enough to drive me down to the meet and helping me each week in training as I asked way to many questions and I have done way to many stupid things. Most of all, these guys are a great group of individuals and it was an absolute priviledge to hang out with them for a day. Thanks again, and if I am lucky, I might get the chance to do it again. Also, I'd just like to add, I thought Detroit Barbell ran a very smooth meet considering all of the participants and JJ Thomas works his ASS off that whole day. I don't know where that guy gets his energy, but it just seems like he gets excited for every single lifter and when you step on that platform he makes you feel like you're the star going for a world record, even if your a newbie like me that nobody cares about.
