Hey guys...
I'm starting to plan a meet.
Tentative date will be January 17, 2009. Although I don't have the venue reserved yet, I spoke with the person at the Bay County Community Center in Bay City and that would be a go. I just have to give him a deposit.
The meet will be called the Battle On The Bay Old School Open.
It will contest weight classes only. There will be no Teen, Submaster, Master, Fireman, etc. divisions, although records would still be able to be set in those divisions. So awards will probably be given to 1st through 3rd and then a Best Lifter for Teen, Master, Open Lightweight and Open heavyweight.
I've already cleared this with Amy. She's told me to just get her a date and she'll put it up on the WPC site.
So that's my plan. However, I have NO experience running meets. There are two monolifts in our area and would try to secure those. Other than that, I need help on where to get all the other "stuff".
Sponsors, judges, insurance, announcer equipment, judging lights, scales, drug testing supplies, etc. Do I need kilo plates?
So any advice would be a real help.
Thanks, Vince

Vince... i highly suggest you coordinate this with Mike White directly. As state chairman, he definitely needs to be in the loop and can advise. In fact, I would go far as suggesting that you touch base with him first (for future meets), even prior to contacting the national office.
